When the Rockies scored three runs to take a 4-3 lead in the 7th inning, it looked as if the Cardinals had let another late lead slip away. But Fernando Tatis homered to tie the game in the 8th. Then, with two outs in the ninth, Shawon Dunston singled to bring Jim Edmonds to the plate. With Dunston running on a 3-2 pitch, Edmonds lined a double to left center field, bringing in Dunston with the winning run, and giving the Cardinals a 5-4 victory. Mike Timlin got the win in relief of Garrett Stephenson. Even though the Cards and Rockies were playing an afternoon game that was rescheduled from an earlier rainout, 44,000 showed up at the ballpark. The Cardinals travel to Milwaukee to start a six-game road trip tonight.
