Emergency crews have expanded their search for an elderly Newton County man. Robert Putman, 78, suffers from senile dementia and a heart condition. He’s been missing from his rural Granby home since Sunday night and may have skipped town. Searchers think the man may have hitched a ride or two. He’s been spotted as far away as Carthage. Officials fear Putman may be laying-low during the day and only moving at night to avoid being spotted. Newton County Emergency Services Director Gary Roark says Putman could get all the way to Kansas City or Tulsa.
