Florida’s Jesus Sanchez mowed down the Cardinals for his second shutout of the season, as the Marlins beat the Cards 7-0. Sanchez allowed six hits in nine innings. The Marlins scored twice in the 4th against St. Louis starter Pat Hentgen, and then added 4 runs in the 7th to blow the game open. Lefty reliever Jason Christiansen didn’t retire any of the three left-handed hitters he faced in the 7th. The Cards still lead Cincinnati by six games. St. Louis and Florida play a matinee today.
