Elderly man eludes searchers

Searchers are looking for an elderly Newton County man missing from his home since last Thursday. Robert Putman, 78, suffers from senile dementia and a heart condition. Searchers are back in the fields around Putman’s Granby home today trying to find the man. They fear Putman may be laying low during the day and only moving at night to avoid being spotted. Searchers say the “missing” man has survived by eating garden vegetables and drinking out of water faucets.
