Nursing homes defend record

August 7, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri has been cited in a recent national survey as having one of the worst nursing home staffing problems in the nation. It’s a problem acknowledged by division of aging director Dick Dunn. He says it takes a special person to work in fields dealing with people having special needs. The person has to understand the technical aspects of providing medical care, but also have a warm feel for other people. He says the nursing home industry in Missouri battles chronic employment problems, partly because of pay, partly because of high employment in other fields that limits the talent pool.
