Rams Open with Raiders

August 4, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Heading into their first pre-season game, the Rams have all of their players in camp. Todd Lyght signed a one-year deal worth over 4-million dollars this week to end the team’s only holdout. Lyght knows the team was looking at Phillippi Sparks as a replacement at cornerback, but he says he knew all along he would be back with the Rams.Lyght’s signing means the team will go into the season missing only two starters from last year’s Super Bowl champs, offensive linemen Fred Miller and Mike Gruttadauria. More in a momentThe Rams open their pre-season schedule at home tomorrow, when they host the Oakland Raiders. Rookie running back Damon Washington may get a lot of playing time. Marshall Faulk will likely play only one series. Trung Candidate is out, and Justin Watson and Derek Loville are battling injuries, so Washington could get a heavy workload.
