Blake Stein allowed just two hits in eight innings as the Royals topped the Yankees 4-1 to snap a five game losing streak. Stein was a bit wild, walking six, but allowed only a single to Chuck Knoblauch in the third, and a single to Derek Jeter in the 8th, when the Yankees scored their only run. The Royals scored three in the second against Denny Neagle, giving him his first loss as a Yankee. Todd Dunwoody and Johnny Damon sandwiched RBI doubles around a sacrifice fly by Luis Ordaz. Joe Randa added an RBI groundout in the 8th. Ricky Bottalico pitched a hitless ninth for his ninth save. Stein is 2-3. The teams play the rubber game of their series tonight. Mac Suzuki will face Roger Clemens.
