Gaming officials ask for probe

August 3, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Mel Fisher, the executive director of the State Gaming Commission has asked for a federal investigation of the way the commission decided to allow a new casino to go in near Kimmswick, where city leaders are adamantly opposed to a casino. They, and backers of a rejected proposal for a casino in LeMay say there’s something fishy about the way the gaming commission made the decision. Fisher says the request assaults the commission’s integrity and he wants an independent investigation to clear the group’s name.
