Young docs to look for domestic abuse

Some residents and medical students are meeting in Kansas City, learning how to handle domestic violence cases in their clinics. One of the leaders of the meeting is Doctor Deb McPherson of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She says one in three women will be affected by domestic violence, which she calls a medical problem. She says doctors should routinely ask if people are or have been in a violent relationship.
