The first lady of Texas had her national coming out party last night. Laura Bush, the wife of Governor George W. Bush, spoke to a national audience for the first time, including the Missouri convention delegation. The former librarian and school teacher talked about her time in the classroom and her focus on education during her address. Delegates like Debi Demien of Wentzville were predictably positive. She called Mrs. Bush “sincere” and “eloquent.” Other Missouri delegates say the difference between the governor’s wife and the sitting first lady are like night and day.
