A battle over billboards is shaping up for this fall. Moments after an anti-billboard initiative was certified for Missouri’s November ballot, the war of words began. Villanova University Marketing Professor Charles Taylor, brought in to speak by billboard supporters, claims the restrictions would force many Missouri businesses that rely on the advertising to go out of business. The Campaign Manager for Save Our Scenery, Karl Kruse, calls the assertion, “false.” He says it hasn’t happened in other states where billboards were banned, like in Oregon.
