Springfield plagued with sewage

July 31, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Raw sewage is still pouring into two creeks in Springfield. A sewer main going into the Southwest Treatment Plant in Springfield broke early Saturday morning. The rupture is pouring millions of gallons of raw sewage into the South and Wilson’s creeks. Assistant Public Works Director Bob Schaefer estimates it will cost anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000 dollars to fix the break. He figures it could take up to two weeks to repair. Meanwhile, millions of gallons of sewage continue seeping out.
