U.S. House minority leader Richard Gephardt says Republicans have wasted their time passing a tax cut bill that will benefit wealthier social security recipients. The House has approved a bill saying only 50% of social security benefits will be subject to income tax after a person’s total income reaches a certain level. It had been 85%. Gephardt says the Republican’s spree of tax cut bills will put the national budget back into a deficit. And he says the President will veto all of them.
