46.5 Million Dollars. That’s one big pile of cash. 11.5 Million Dollar Signing Bonus. That will buy a lot of diapers. And frankly, I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more than Kurt Warner. Sure it’s a ridiculous amount of money, but if that’s what they are going to pay football players, then Warner’s earned it. The Rams could have played hard ball. Warner was not a free agent, so he had no leverage. The Rams have Trent Green, who was supposed to be the starter last year. But they did the right thing. They paid Kurt Warner. Even if Warner proves to be a fluke, and I don’t think he will, he’s worth the money. Kurt Warner had one of the very best season’s any NFL quarterback has ever had. And it ended with a championship. On top of that, Warner is one of the nicest people to ever don shoulder pads. He’s one guy that you really believe won’t change with all the money. The deal is structured well, so that in three years, if Warner isn’t worth all those millions, the Rams can let him go. I have a feeling he’ll still be worth it.
