A huge crowd gathered in Joplin today for a chance to hear the presumptive Republican presidential candidate and his running mate. 5,000 or more turned out for the speeches by George Bush and Dick Cheney. The addresses were expected to last an hour or more. From there, the candidates head to the East Coast to speak in West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. Those are the last stops before the republican candidates arrive in Philadelphia for the G.O.P. national convention.
