Rison has made bigger news off the field than on it in recent years, but he hopes to put that behind him now. He is accepting blame for the financial problems that got him in trouble this past off-season. Coach Gunther Cunningham cancelled the afternoon practice session yesterday to give tired legs a rest, and because the field was quite wet from a rain storm.Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez got his hand stepped on when he tried to make a diving catch. Gonzalez had his hand wrapped in ice after practice, but the injury is not serious.Tom Condon, the agent for top draft pick Sylvester Morris, was in River Falls Wednesday to meet with Chiefs’ president Carl Peterson. Condon says the two sides made progress, but did not reach a deal. The Chiefs also swapped proposals with guard Will Shields, who has the team’s “franchise player” tag.Veteran defensive end Leslie O’Neal hasn’t given the Chiefs an indication on whether he plans to retire or report to camp. The Chiefs are not fining O’Neal, saying they want to give him time to make his decision.
