College of the Ozarks will host the NAIA Division II basketball tournament for the next three seasons. Following a successful tournament this past March, the NAIA has decided to extend C of O’s contract to host the event another two years, through 2003. Over 25-thousand fans watched the 31-game, five-day event in Ozark in March. College of the Ozarks lost in the title game of the tournament, to Embry-Riddle University of Florida. NAIA officials say the deal to keep the tournament in Ozark does not give Branson an edge in becoming the new home for the NAIA’s headquarters. The NAIA is considering 39 cities for a home base, including Branson and Springfield.
