Suzuki Surrenders Winning Homer

July 25, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Maybe Mac Suzuki shouldn’t have still been in the game. Or maybe he just shouldn’t have thrown a strike. Whichever way you look at it, he was, and he did, and Magglio Ordonez hit a three run homer in the seventh inning to give the White Sox a 7-6 win over the Royals. Suzuki entered the seventh inning with a 6-4 lead, but gave up a double a walk and a sacrifice. With first base open, Suzuki got Frank Thomas to pop out for the second out, but Ordonez followed with his 24th homer to give the White Sox the lead. Suzuki is 5-5, after allowing 7 runs, 6 earned, on 8 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings. Sizzling Johnny Damon had three more hits and three RBI’s, and Mark Quinn had four hits for the Royals. Royals catcher Hector Ortiz is 6 for 9 since being called up to replace the injured Jorge Fabregas
