Port authorities in Missouri are getting a huge funding boost this year over the past two years. The state legislature allocated more than $6 million dollars for capital improvements on the nine port authorities. The legislature only provided $1.5 million last year, and only half a million the previous year. Mel Sundermeyer with the State Transportation Department says lawmakers are starting to see the opportunity for growth in river transportation.
