The Chiefs enter training camp with a few glaring questions. The most glaring may be at running back, where Coach Gunther Cunningham has used a committee of rushers in the past. Will someone emerge as the top guy this year? It’s not likely, as Cunningham seems to like the commmittee approach. Kimble Anders was the team’s best runner a year ago, before he ruptured his Achilles tendon, so must show that he has bounced back from that injury. The coaches like what they’ve seen of rookie Frank Moreau in the early going, and Mike Cloud is competing for time at running back as well. The Chiefs are a little thin on the interior offensive line at the moment. Dave Szott has dropped his trade request and is in camp, but he’s still recovering from a blood clot this offseason. Guard Wil Shields is still out while he waits for a new contract. Besides Wil Shields, the only major player missing from camp is first round pick Sylvester Morris. The Chiefs would like to have him signed soon, as they need help at receiver.
