Senator Kit Bond says the National Science Foundation needs more money. He and a leading Democrat have joined together to advocate doubling the foundation’s budget. He calls the foundation “one of the great treasures” of our country. He says the group’s basic research has lead to greater computerization in the country and countless scientific breakthroughs. Bond claims the National Science Foundation budget has stagnated while Congress approves increases for other programs like the National Institutes of Health.
