Employees of the Toastmaster manufacturing plant in Macon have been jolted by word that the company is turning the plant into a warehouse by the end of the year. That means the end of jobs for about 400 employees. It’s the second major plant closing announced in north Missouri in a matter of days. The Wolverine shoe plant in Kirksville also is closing in a couple of months.
