Sammy Sosa drilled two home runs, as the Chicago Cubs beat up on Royals pitching for a 10-7 win. Sosa hit a pair of two-run homers, both off Kansas City starter Dan Reichert, who fell to 3-6 on the season. Sosa homered in the first inning on an 0-2 pitch, and struck again in the third. The Royals had scored four in the first and one in the second, and took a 6-4 lead on Joe Randa’s home run in the 4th. But Reichert walked the first two hitters in the fifth, and the Cubs went on to score five runs in the inning. Reichert allowed 8 runs in just 4 and 1/3 innings. Randa and Johnny Damon each had four hits for Kansas City. The Royals and Cubs meet again tonight, with Royals’ rookie Chad Durbin starting against Chicago’s Scott Downs.
