An experimental program at the prison in Boonville is serving as a model for other inmate experiments at penitentiaries and jails throughout the state. The Boonville experiment allows nearly 100 inmates to grow fruits and vegetables for needy families. John Fougere with the state Department of Corrections says inmates at Boonville turned out the equivalent of close to 16,0000 meals for the poor last year.
