A large part of northwest Missouri will find out this week if a state-imposed drought advisory will be lifted. Towns like Hamilton, east of St. Joseph, have been under the advisory for a month. Hamilton Mayor Danny Alexander started rationing water once the advisory went into effect. The city council banned car washing and you’re also not allowed to water your lawn or fill a wading pool. Businesses were required to cut water use 30%. Hamilton may have to keep rationing water. The Department of Natural Resources says Caldwell County will remain under the advisory a while longer. Another 26 counties should hear later this week whether they’ve been cleared.
