Cards Stumble Again in Dome

July 17, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals have never fared well in the Twinkie Dome. St. Louis couldn’t muster anything against young Twins pitcher Mike Redman, and Minnesota beat the Cards 5-2. Including the 1987 World Series, when the Cardinals lost four games there, the franchise is now 1-7 when it visits the Hubert H. Humphrey Dome. Redman didn’t allow a hit for the first four innings, and didn’t allow a run until the 7th when Edgar Renteria doubled home two runs. Rick Ankiel allowed 7 hits and 4 runs in six innings to take the loss. He’s 6-5. The Cardinals played without three starters. Ray Lankford left the team to be with his family after the shooting death of his brother. Mark McGwire is on the disabled list, and J.D. Drew is nursing an ankle injury. Pat Hentgen pitches for the Cardinals tonight against Minnesota’s Mike Lincoln.
