A legislative effort to protect children from pornographers and sex offenders has been signed by the governor. It includes tougher sentences for sexual offenders and for the production and/or distribution of child pornography. The bill also creates a new crime, “sexual exploitation of a minor,” for involving a child in pornography. Existing law is now expanded to include a prohibition of child porn on the internet.
