Protester moved by Iraq visit

July 10, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A trip to Iraq spawned the protest that stalled President Clinton’s motorcade in Columbia. Steve Jacobs was arrested last week for kneeling in front of the motorcade to keep it from passing. Jacobs blames the U-N trade embargo for a lack of food and medicine in Iraq, although the U-S has offered to allow the necessities in. Jacobs was charged with 2 misdemeanors: littering and hindering a government operation. A secret service agent decided against federal charges after questioning the advocate for the poor and homeless for an hour.
