St. Louis prepares for merit pay

July 7, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Some St. Louis teachers may have a chance to make extra money when class starts this fall. The district is looking at giving out performance bonuses at the 20 or so pilot schools in St. Louis. Administrator Dr. Charles Brown says the move could eventually pave the way for cash awards for individual teachers. The proposal is still in the works, but would provide bonuses for buildings that improve their test scores over previous years. The money could be used for things like computers and special programs.
