The wife of a Fort Leonard Wood Lieutenant Colonel has admitted to smothering their 5 month old daughter. Mary Karch pleaded guilty today to involuntary manslaughter. Karch killed her daughter last October, then picked up a 2nd kid from daycare and tried to suffocate that child with a plastic bag. Instead, she wrecked her car and military police were able to save the second child. Karch had struggled with depression and had left a suicide note at her home. She faces up to 20 years in prison at sentencing. Her husband is Lt. Col. John Karch.
