More drunken boating arrests were recorded on Missouri’s lakes and rivers during the July 4th holiday period. State Water Patrol Sergeant Paul Kennedy says 2 people died. One fatality occurred on the Mississippi near Cape Girardeau and another happened at Smithville lake. Overall, the Water Patrol reports fewer boating accidents and fewer injuries. However, drunk boaters and boaters on drugs were higher than usual. 10 people were killed on Missouri highways, according to the state Highway Patrol.
