Everybody has been ordered out of a Kansas City apartment building. The fire marshal’s office has ordered everyone out of the former Emerson Hotel because of nonworking fire detectors and blocked exits. The Red Cross is attempting to help the 30 to 40 poor and transient residents who lived there. A man fell from one of the windows at the Emerson earlier this week and died.
