A’s shortstop Miguel Tejada made a leaping catch of Greg Zaun’s looping liner with the bases loaded, to end the 8th and help preserve the A’s win over the Royals, 4-3. The Royals had scored two runs in the 8th to trim the lead to one, when Tejada robbed Zaun to end the rally. Royal’s starter Jeff Suppan allowed four runs in seven innings, and fell to 2-6. A’s rookie Mark Mulder gave the Royals just one run in seven innings. He leads American League rookies with five wins. Jermaine Dye drove in two runs for Kansas City. The Royals lost two of three in the series and have today off before hosting the Indians tomorrow.
