Witasick Goes Distance, but Royals Lose

June 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Jay Witasick gave the Royals their first complete game of the year, but former Royal Tim Belcher shut down the Royals as the Angels won 4-3. Jermaine Dye homered to give Kansas City a 2-0 lead in the first, but Belcher didn’t allow another hit until the 7th, when Kansas City scored its third run. The Angels got two in the 2nd, on Ben Molina’s home run, and two more in the third. Mark Petkovsek pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the Angels for his first save. Witasick allowed four runs on ten hits in eight innings, and didn’t walk a batter, but fell to 1-7 on the year.
