Campaign limits upheld

June 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A new federal court ruling shuts off a big money pipeline for major candidates in Missouri. It appears to be the final challenge to Missouri’s 1994 campaign contribution limits laws. The U.S. Supreme Court had previously upheld limits on individual contributions. But the republican party had been challenging how much money political parties can give to candidates. The court ruling also upholds party limits. Attorney General Jay Nixon says parties can still give money to candidates but not directly.
