Governor Carnahan is asking the federal agriculture department for more help for Missouri’s farmers whose pastures and hay crops have dried up. The U.S. Agriculture Department already allows grazing in 21 counties on land in the Conservation Reserve Program. Carnahan wants haying privileges in all of Missouri’s counties. He says it will give farmers a new source for hay during a very dry fall and spring. Carnahan called Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman with his request.
