Commentary: Tiger’s Mind His Best Asset

June 19, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Tiger Woods is physically gifted, but so are a lot of golfers. Yes, Tiger can drive farther and straighter than anyone else. Over the last two years he has developed a tremendous short game, and improved his putting substantially. But Tiger isn’t just lucky. He wasn’t just handed these abilities. He has what Michael Jordan had. Tiger wants it more than the other guys. He works harder than the other guys. He has an incredible ability to focus. He has set one goal for himself and he goes after it every day. He wants to be the best golfer ever. Winning the U.S. Open by 15 strokes has moved him closer to that title. But his huge victory didn’t just happen because he has been blessed with talent and had a good weekend. He has worked extremely hard to become the strongest player on the tour, physically AND mentally. Tiger has tunnel vision, and the ability to bear down on every shot every week, whether it’s the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, or a tourney in the Quad Cities. And that’s what separates him from the rest of the pack. By 15 strokes.
