Don’t eat the sturgeon!

June 16, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The state Health Department is easing some of its warnings about eating contaminated fish. Health officials are seeing a slow decrease in chemical contamination of edible fish. However…they’re still worried about lead contamination in fish from the Big River in St. Francois and Jefferson Counties, part of the Flat River in St. Francois County and certain fish from Big Creek near Glover. Gale Carlson with the state Health Department says they’re also worried about long fish in the larger rivers, like very large catfish and sturgeon.
