More reliable crime statistics should be coming soon to Missouri. The state is one of only two hold outs in requiring local law enforcement agencies to comply with national crime reporting requirements . But that requirement is contained in domestic violence legislation expected to be signed next month by Governor Carnahan. Under the legislation, police and sheriff’s departments would file crime reports with the state highway patrol which will pass them on to the FBI.
