Twice this weekend, the Royals blew a one run lead in the ninth inning, but won anyway….. not Sunday. The Royals coughed up another late lead, but fell in ten innings to Pittsburgh, 10-6. Brian Giles doubled home the tying run in the ninth against Royals reliever Jeff D’Amico. The Royals threatened, but couldn’t score in the bottom of the ninth, and the Pirates scored five runs in the tenth against Jerry Spradlin to blow the game open. Spradlin allowed five runs on four hits and two walks in just an inning and 2/3 to take the loss. Todd Dunwoody hit his first home run for Kansas City. The Royals continue their nine-game homestand tonight against Seattle. Miguel Batista will start for Kansas City against Jamie Moyer.
