Royals starter Jose Rosado, who has missed most of the season with a bad shoulder, may be headed for surgery. An MRI shows Rosado still has some cartilage damage in his pitching shoulder. Team officials say if he can rehab without surgery, the earliest he could return is late August. Meanwhile pitching prospect Orber Moreno, who hasn’t pitched all year, will need Tommy John surgery to replace a ligament in his elbow. The Royals open a nine game home stand tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Bucs are five games below .500 and six behind St. Louis in the NL Central. The Royals have dropped five games behind the White Sox, who have won four straight. Jeff Suppan will start tonight against Jason Schmidt. Both pitchers are 2-5.
