Cards Face Struggling Tigers

June 9, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals fell briefly out of first place earlier this week, before bouncing back to beat the Royals two straight. Those wins have the Cards a game and a half ahead of Cincinnati as they open a nine-game road trip in Detroit. The Tigers have been terrible, running up the second-worst record in the American League, playing in a brand-new ballpark. The Tigers are averaging less than four runs a game, worst in the league and a full run below the next poorest offense. Garrett Stephenson will try to improve to 9-1 tonight. He faces Detroit’s Jeff Weaver.
