Darryl Kile dominated the Royals, leading the Cardinals to a 4-2 win in the rubber game of the intra-state series. Kile went the distance, allowing seven hits, walking just one while striking out ten, to improve to 9-3. The Cardinals scored two runs in the first and two in the second, with the help of a ball Jermaine Dye lost in the lights, to take a 4-0 lead. The Royals scratched Kile for a run in the 6th. They scored a run in the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate, but Kile induced a game-ending double play from Greg Zaun. both the Cards and Royals are off today. The Royals return home to host the Pirates tomorrow, while the Cardinals visit Detroit.
