Pittsburgh’s Wil Cordero tied the game at 4 with a two out home run off Jerry Spradlin in the ninth, but the Royals rallied to win 7-5 in eleven innings. Carlos Febles’ ground ball plated the go-ahead run in the eleventh, before Dave McCarty added two more with a double. The Royals needed those, because the Pirates scored a run and loaded the bases against Dan Reichert, before he struck out Pat Meares to earn his second save. Jermaine Dye hit his 17th home run of the year and drove in three runs. Jason Rakers got the win in relief, and the Royals took two out of three in the series. They play in St. Louis tonight. Mac Suzuki pitches against Pat Hentgen.
