Inmates have started bunking-down at Missouri’s new maximum-security prison in Licking. State officials held an open house at the South Central Correctional Center for the curious the first weekend in June. Department of Corrections Spokesman Tim Kniest says its a unique opportunity. After the weekend showing…they locked the place down for good. That’s when they started taking on some initial minimum-security prisoners. At a rate of 40-a-day…those inmates will start trickling in…to help with final preparations…and give the prison a trial run. By next fall…the prison will eventually hold 15-hundred of the most dangerous inmates in the state. It cost 72 (M) million dollars to build.
