Pembroke Hill’s Titles Not Gone Yet

May 31, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Pembroke Hill has not lost its state titles just yet. Previous reports indicated Pembroke Hill would lose the basketball titles it won while Kareem and Jaron Rush played for the school, in the wake of Myron Piggie’s admission that he gave cash to the Rushes. Becky Oakes, Executive Director of the Missouri State High School Activities Association. says A final decision regarding Pembroke Hill’s titles has NOT been made, but the association’s by-laws do call for a forfeiture. Oakes says the MSHSAA board plans to meet with Pembroke Hill June 27th to decide if that will indeed be the penalty. Oakes says if Pembroke is forced to forfeit the championship games, the runners-up from 1997, 1998 and 1999 will be declared state champions for those years. In addition to the matter of student ineligibility, Pembroke may also receive additional penalties for lack of institutional control.
