Mizzou has eight athletes competing in the NCAA outdoor track and field championships, which begin today at Duke University. Derrick Peterson headlines the Missouri contingent. He has won three NCAA championships in the 800 meter run, and an unprecedented eight Big 12 Conference titles, and will compete in the Olympic trials in July. Missouri has two competitors in the heptathalon, Michelle Moran, the Big 12 champ, and Jill Aholt. The rest of the Tiger contingent includes shot putter Christian Cantwell, Sunny Gilbert and Ashley Wysong in the women’s 800, Ryan Pirtle in the steeplechase, and Espen Strindeberg in the decathalon. The meet runs through Saturday.
