Class 1A-2A Baseball Tournament Begins

Crystal City is the only team to reach the Class 1A-2A baseball tournament with a sub-.500 record. The tournament begins today in Columbia with the state semi-finals. St. Vincent faces Englewood Christian in a 1A semi-final this afternoon, follwed by Norwood against North Shelby. The 2A semis are this evening, with Cape Girardeau Notre Dame playing Kansas City St. Pius X at 5 pm, and Crystal City facing Forsyth at 8 pm. Crystal City was 5-14 at one point this season, but has won seven straight to reach the semi-finals with a 12-14 record. The Hornets played two-thirds of their regular season games against schools from higher classes.
