Royals Will Dodge Martinez at Fenway

May 30, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals open a nine-game road trip tonight in Boston’s Fenway Park. The Royals visit Pittsburgh and St. Louis before returning home. The team is hovering just above the .500 mark at 25-24, in third place, 2 and 1/2 games behind the Chicago White Sox. The Royals will catch a break in their series in Boston, as they will not have to face ace Pedro Martinez, who beat Roger Clemens and the Yankees in a classic pitcher’s duel Sunday. Still, Boston’s other pitchers have done well. Tonight, Kansas City faces Jeff Fassero, who is 5-1 with a 3.40 ERA. Jeff Suppan, 2-4, pitches for the Royals.
