Royals manager Tony Muser has a little more security. Muser’s contract, which was due to expire at the end of this season, has been extended through the 2002 season. Muser replaced Bob Boone in July of 1997, and has guided the Royals through their youth movement. In his two full seasons, the Royals finished third in 1998, and fourth last year. This year they are 23-22, three games behind Chicago in third place.
